May 7, 2025: Unannounced Child Care Licensing Visit

Five months after Kyle left our home, an Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care licensing specialist arrived at Sweet Peas Daycare for an unannounced, in-person compliance verification visit.

At 12:15 p.m., I was caring for three children between the ages of three and four.

The specialist documented that Kyle had left the home on December 5, 2024, no longer lived there, and was not on the premises. I completed and signed the requested unauthorized-adult form.

The official report lists no compliance issue. It also states that no photographs were taken, no documents were collected, and no technical-assistance materials were provided.

The licensing specialist’s follow-up email stated:

“It was very nice to see you today. Thank you for everything that you do.”

This is an official, contemporaneous government record, not a retrospective account or reconstructed memory. The state arrived without warning and documented me operating my licensed childcare program, caring for three children, cooperating with the licensing process, and completing the requested form.
