September 29, 2022: Community Action Housing Request and Tent Shelter Notice

On September 29, 2022, I emailed Community Action after completing a Community Connect housing assessment on September 16.

I explained that I was waiting to be matched with housing programs and had also submitted a pre-application for an affordable apartment. I asked whether my family could be considered for a priority waitlist.

I wrote:

“In the meantime, we will be taking shelter in a tent until my name comes up somewhere on a list.”

Redacted September 29, 2022 email from Rebekah Morgan describing a housing assessment, affordable-housing waitlists, and the family’s plan to shelter in a tent while awaiting placement.

September 29, 2022 email from Rebekah Morgan requesting help with housing resources after completing a Community Connect assessment. The email states that the family expected to shelter in a tent while waiting for housing. Personal and identifying information has been redacted.

This contemporaneous email documents that I completed a housing assessment, joined housing and shelter waitlists, submitted an affordable-housing preapplication, and continued seeking assistance before our family entered tent homelessness.

The printed copy contains a handwritten timeline noting September 16 for joining the shelter waitlist, September 30 for homelessness, October 21 for entering shelter, and November 14 for leaving shelter. These notes are visually separate from the original email and are preserved as annotations.
